The editor

A tour of the Gensy signature editor: the canvas, rows and blocks, the inspector, reusable components and the AI assistant.

The editor, also called the Builder, shows the signature as it will be received; the rendering notes button flags what some email clients won’t render. The first time you open it, a short tour introduces each area; the Guided tour button restarts it.

The areas

  • The canvas, in the centre.
  • The left panel — the Variables (elements, employee variables and components), Styles, Layers and Assistant tabs.
  • The inspector, on the right — typography, borders and corners, background, margins and padding, layout, alignment, width and height of the selected element. Below 1,500 px wide, it becomes the Properties tab.

Rows, blocks and sub-blocks

A signature is a stack of rows; each row contains blocks, and a block can contain sub-blocks. The final output is an HTML table: that’s what keeps everything aligned in Outlook, Gmail and Apple Mail.

Element or variable

A static element is the same for everyone. A variable — such as the employee’s name, job title or photo — displays each employee’s data. For a gallery template, the Map fields step links its variables to the organization’s fields; an unmapped variable becomes fixed text.

Design mode and Real preview

Design mode shows dotted borders around blocks so you can place elements. Real preview shows the final output, borders included, with mock data or the selected employee’s data. There is no mobile view. If your borders don’t appear in design mode, that’s normal: switch to Real preview.

Components

Select a block and choose Save as component, at the bottom of the inspector: it appears in the Components section of the Variables tab of every template in the workspace. A click inserts it at the bottom of the template, as an independent copy. There is no copy and paste: to reproduce an element, block or row within the same template, use Duplicate in the inspector.

The assistant

Describe a change in the Assistant tab of the left panel, by typing or by voice (dictation in Chrome, Edge and Safari, not Firefox): AI applies it, the change appears on the canvas and can be undone in one click. From 5 credits per message depending on the template’s size — the input field shows the exact price before you send — from the Starter plan up.

Save

Save keeps a draft (autosave does the same 30 seconds after the last change): your employees keep receiving the published version. Publish makes the new version live; its employees then switch to Update available in Deployment. A never-published template serves its draft to its deployed employees. A Live update window warns you if another collaborator changes the same template while you’re editing (Refresh now), and a confirmation appears if you leave with unsaved changes. Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y (⌘Z and ⌘Y) undo and redo.
